Papa Roach in der ausverkauften Mitsubishi Electric Halle

Düsseldorf, was war denn das?! Die „Rise Of The Roach“-Tour von den Kaliforniern Papa Roach ist in vollem Gange und so gut wie jede Stadt ist ausverkauft. Und womit? Zurecht! Seit über 25 Jahren rocken Jacoby und seine Männer nicht nur in ihrer Heimat die Bühnen. Nein, auch in Deutschland haben sie über die Jahre nicht an Beliebtheit verloren.
Ganz im Gegenteil. Die letzten Platten waren immer weit oben in den Charts platziert (sofern man seit den Streaming-Diensten noch so davon sprechen kann wie vor 25 Jahren) und der aktuelle Song -im übrigen der erste neue seit drei Jahren- kommt bei den Fans mehr als gut an. Und damit auch jede:r „Even If It Kills Me“ kennenlernt, wird der Song nun auf der aktuellen Tour als Opener gespielt.
So auch am Samstagabend in Düsseldorf! Die Mitsubishi Halle brodelte, die Stimmung kochte. Kein Wunder, denn Jacoby, Jerry, Tony, Tobin und auch diesmal wieder mit an Board, Tobins‘ Bruder Anthony, rockten die Hütte von der ersten Sekunde an. Wer schon einmal bei einem Papa Roach Konzert war, weiß, wovon die Rede ist. Hier ist Stimmung anfangs zum Support Act Wage War noch ein wenig verhalten, wird aber von Song zu Song intensiver und besser.
Nach einer kurzen Umbaupause hinterm Vorhang ging es dann kurz nach 21 Uhr endlich los. Und wer in Frankfurt dabei war, der wird gemerkt haben, dass die Stimmung im Publikum in Düsseldorf noch mal um einiges getoppt wurde. Und nicht nur da – auch auf der Bühne ging es im wahrsten Sinne des Wortes heiß her! Ob Jacoby, der die Nähe zum Publikum suchte, in dem er kurz in den Graben sprang um mit den ersten Reihen zu rocken oder Tobin, der ein Bisschen zu Nah am Flamer stand… 🤭(keine Panik, es ist nichts passiert) oder die großen Emotionen bei den Songs „Leave A Light On“ oder „Forever“, welcher in Linkin Parks‘ Song „In The End“ überging und damit ausklang.
Zum Song „Leave A Light On“ wurde auch in Düsseldorf noch einmal darauf aufmerksam gemacht, wie wichtig die mentale Gesundheit ist und dass Einnahmen der Tour gespendet werden. Und so teilt es auch der heutige Presse-Bericht von Head Of PR mit:
„Am Tag ihres letzten Deutschland-Konzerts der laufenden Tour übergab die Band nun in Düsseldorf einen Scheck in Höhe von 20.000 Euro an den gemeinnützigen Verein Metality, der die Band bereits auf ihrer kompletten Deutschlandtour begleitet hatte. Bei Metality handelt es sich um einen gemeinnützigen Verein, der ein weltweites Netzwerk von „Metalheads“ schafft, die sich gegenseitig unterstützen, helfen und fördern und allen, die im Moshpit des Lebens auf die Schnauze fallen, wieder aufhelfen.
“We aim to always Leave A Light On for those who are struggling, and encourage anyone to seek help they may need. Working together with Metality, along with organizations around the globe, we are pleased to raise awareness for the cause of mental health and suicide prevention”, sagen Papa Roach.“

Zurück nach Düsseldorf. Die Setlist hat sich während der Tour – wie meist üblich bei Papa Roach – nicht gegenüber den anderen Städten verändert. Schließlich wurde nach wie vor das 25. jährige Band-Jubiläum gefeiert, da wollen die Fans Hits aus allen Dekaden hören. Zumindest sind es 25 Jahre, seit dem die Band offiziell Erfolge feiert. Aktiv sind die Männer um Jacoby bereits seit 1993.
Songs wie „… To Be Loved“, „Kill The Noise“, „Getting Away With Murder“ oder auch „Born For Greatness“ durften an diesem Abend in der Mitsubishi Electric Halle genau so wenig fehlen wie „Liar“, „Swerve“ oder auch „Roses On My Grave“ (ein Song der bekanntlich nicht so oft live gespielt wird). Jeden einzelnen Song feierte das Publikum in Düsseldorf bzw. genoss die ruhigen Momente, bei den Balladen.
Die Oberränge wurden auch wie in Frankfurt noch einmal animiert, mitzumachen und mitzurocken, schließlich ist das ja „eine Rockshow und kein Fernsehen“, erinnerte Jacoby noch einmal auf seine eigene Art und Weise. 😉
Was gibt es sonst noch zu sagen? Die Lichtshow und auch die Akustik waren in Düsseldorf wieder ein Augen- und Ohrenschmaus, wie man es von Papa Roach gewöhnt ist. Und auch jede:r Besucher:in, die kein Fan der Band ist, wird Spaß haben, wenn er oder sie auf einem Papa Roach Konzert ist. Stimmen aus dem Publikum, die Papa Roach zuvor noch nie live gesehen haben, sagten ähnliches. Es war ein grandioser Abend mit viel Energie, mächtig guter Laune aber auch mit vielen Emotionen, die den ein oder anderen Fan mitrissen.
Wer noch nie auf einem Papa Roach Konzert war, sollte dies -wenn irgendwie, irgendwo möglich- unbedingt einmal nachholen!

Düsseldorf, what was that?! The “Rise Of The Roach” tour by Californian band Papa Roach is in full swing and almost every city is sold out. Absolutey deserved! For over 25 years, Jacoby and his men have been rocking stages not only in their home country. No, they have not lost any of their popularity in Germany over the years either.
Quite the opposite. Their last few records were always at the top of the charts (as far as you can say that about streaming services, as you could 25 years ago) and the current song – the first new one in three years, by the way – has been more than well received by fans. And to make sure everyone gets to know “Even If It Kills Me”, the song is now being played as an opener on the current tour.
And so it was on Saturday evening in Düsseldorf! The Mitsubishi Hall was on fire, the atmosphere was electric. No surprise, because Jacoby, Jerry, Tony, Tobin and, once again on board, Tobin’s brother Anthony, rocked the house from the first second. Anyone who has been to a Papa Roach concert before knows what we are talking about. The atmosphere here is still a little restrained at the beginning, while the support act Wage War was playing, but it gets more intense and better with every song.
After a short break behind the curtain, the show finally started shortly after 9 p.m. And those who were there in Frankfurt will have noticed that the atmosphere in Düsseldorf was crazier. And not only this – things were also heating up on stage literally! Whether it was Jacoby, who reached out to the audience by jumping into the pit to rock with the first rows, or Tobin, who was a little too close to the flamer… 🤭 (don’t worry, nothing happened) or the big emotions during the songs “Leave A Light On” or “Forever”, which went into Linkin Park’s “In The End” and ended with it.
During the song “Leave A Light On” in Düsseldorf, the importance of mental health was once again emphasized and the fact that a part of the tour’s earnings will be donated. And so it is also communicated by today’s press report from Head Of PR:
“On the day of their last German concert of the current tour, the band now handed over a check for 20,000 euros to the non-profit association Metality in Düsseldorf, which had already accompanied the band on their entire German tour. Metality is a non-profit organization that creates a worldwide network of “metalheads” who support, help and encourage each other and help everyone who falls on their faces in the mosh pit of life.
“We aim to always Leave A Light On for those who are struggling, and encourage anyone to seek help they may need. Working together with Metality, along with organizations around the globe, we are pleased to raise awareness for the cause of mental health and suicide prevention,” says Papa Roach.

Back to Düsseldorf. The setlist has not changed during the tour – as is usually the case with Papa Roach – compared to the other cities. After all, the band’s 25th anniversary was still being celebrated. I mean, c’mon, the audience wants to listen to songs from every decade. At least it has been 25 years since the band officially celebrated success. Jacoby and his men have been active since 1993.
Songs like “… To Be Loved”, “Kill The Noise”, “Getting Away With Murder” or “Born For Greatness” could not be missing from the program in the Mitsubishi Electric Hall that evening, nor could “Liar”, “Swerve” or “Roses On My Grave” (a song that is not often played live, as is well known). The audience in Düsseldorf celebrated every single song and enjoyed the quiet moments during the ballads. As in Frankfurt, the upper tiers were also encouraged to join in and rock along, after all, this is “a rock show and not television,” Jacoby reminded us once again in his own way. 😉
What else is there to say? The light show and the acoustics in Düsseldorf were once again a joy to watch and listen to, as one is accustomed to with Papa Roach. And even visitors who are not fans of the band will have fun at a Papa Roach concert. Voices from the audience who had never seen Papa Roach live before said something similar. It was a great evening with lots of energy, a great atmosphere, but also with many emotions that carried some fans away.
If you’ve never been to a Papa Roach concert, you should definitely go and see them live!
